Book the free diagnosticCalifornia public schools teach math to the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. California districts use either the traditional sequence (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2) or the integrated sequence (Integrated Math I, II and III), which mixes algebra, geometry and statistics in each year. Tutoring follows whichever pathway your child's school uses.
The state math test in grades 3–8 and grade 11.
Offered at many California high schools, with exams each May.
Taken by many students applying to colleges that consider test scores.
For admission to the University of California and California State University, students need three years of college-preparatory mathematics (area "c" of the a–g requirements), and four are recommended. Keeping grades strong through Algebra 2 or Integrated Math III matters for that.

It can. The University of California counts math courses taken in seventh and eighth grade if the high school accepts them as equivalent to its own courses. Ask your child's high school how it records them.
Not by itself. A score of 3 or higher on AP Calculus AB or BC satisfies two years of the three-year requirement, but not geometry, which still has to be completed.
Yes. Integrated Math I, II and III cover the same content as Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2, arranged differently. Share the course materials and unit calendar in the first session and tutoring follows them.
Tutoring follows the California standards the CAASPP is built on, so regular sessions support it. In the weeks before the test, sessions can also practice its question formats.
45 minutes, 1-on-1, no card needed. You get a written plan either way.
